Trauma is fairly common and most of us encounter at least a few traumatic incidents throughout our life. Trauma can be caused by accident, crime, assault, natural disaster, fire, injury, abuse, loss and any other painful experiences in your life. Even though individual experiences and their responses to trauma can be vary, there are always two things in common. Everyone is hurt and everyone wants to feel himself/herself again.
Sayaka Kawase Psychotherapy Clinic specializes in trauma treatment. Our goal is not to erase your painful memory because, let's face it, you cannot forget when it still hurts you. Instead, we will help you be free from the past by gaining control over "that" memory. You still remember what happened to you, but it will become so insignificant that you can look at it without fear and pain. When you are free from the past, you can focus on now and future. You move on your life. That is our goal.
To achieve our goal, you first need to understand the structure of trauma. You will learn how the particular incident impacted your mind and why it has been so difficult to manage your recurring thoughts and intense emotions. Overcoming your worst fear is an extremely empowering and life- changing experience as I repeatedly experienced that my clients become stronger, kinder and wiser through this process. We call this "trauma growth."
